2020 Photography Workshops

1x1 Photo Workshops

Group workshops are fantastic and offer a great value and even greater experience shooting with others as well as seeing how others “see” a scene during image reviews. Plus there is always lots of teaching from me during the workshop to those who want to learn. If you want to supercharge your learning and elevate your skills I’d recommend considering a 1x1 session with me. I will tailor the experience to what your goals are and work exclusively with you in the field to elevate your skills. We will also do an image review and critique the images for further learning. If you want to further discuss image processing and workflow, I can help in that space as well. I will choose shooting locations appropriate for the goals you are trying to achieve in order to maximize the learning potential of our time together. I can be available for ½, full or multi-day 1x1 sessions. Contact me for rates and availability.

I am continuing to partner with Jack Graham Photography to offer an incredible selection of photo workshop opportunities.  Jack has been teaching photography and leading workshops for over 27 years and his vast experience is invaluable in bringing the best value and highest learning and skill development to each and every participant in our workshops.

Arctic Light of Lofoten Islands, Norway

February 10 - 16, 2020     $4640

Consider joining us on our annual Arctic Light in Lofoten, Norway Photography Workshop in February 2020. Many photographers say the light in Lofoten in the winter is literally like nowhere else … and a photographer’s paradise! The Lofoten archipelago on Norway’s western coast is a very special location for photographers in the winter.

Though way above the Arctic Circle, the Gulf Stream influences the waters and allows the climate to be more temperate than areas to its south. However, this area is very snowy, which adds to the intrigue and photogenic opportunities of the many quaint fishing villages, fjords and majestic mountains found here.

Abstract Photography on the Oregon Coast - Pacific Northwest Art School

March 27 - 29, 2020. $699

This workshop, on the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast, is a unique event. known for its vast seascapes with numerous sea stacks and pristine beaches, we plan on offering you a completely different unique experience. Abstract imagery is always open to interpretation. To some, the abstract photograph can be quite subjective. In this kind of image making, learning to see how the dynamics and structure of a scene can evoke visual stimulation in a far different manner and what he or she commonly applies in landscape or other forms of photography. You’ll see how the same image can be in interpreted differently by every viewer.

Please contact the Pacific Northwest Arts School to register

Olympic National Park

May 14 - 17,  2020     $1289

We’ll visit locations such as the Hoh Rainforest, Hurricane Ridge, The Sol Duc Valley, Ruby Beach, and many more during our workshop. Having visited and conducted many workshops in the park over the past 20 years, we know some secret locations! The diversity of the ecosystems in such proximity makes this one of the most desirable areas on earth to photograph.

This is a great time to be here since the rainy season makes for great sunsets and light. Typically, the best photography here is made in the soft light of a rainy day as we move about the park. The advantage of the rain is that the water reflects the light in various directions which intensifies and enhances the already special effect of the deep green lush rainforests that we’ll be experiencing.

Alaska Bears and Landscapes with Jack Graham

August 14 - 19, 2020     $7880

Join Jack Graham and John Pedersen in the beautiful Katmai region of Alaska for an incredible experience photographing grizzly bears in their natural habitat as well as the Alaskan landscape.

We will be assisted by the best guides in the region and go to areas few others ever travel to. This wilderness area is sparsely populated. The bears rule the land here and humans have adapted to respect the bears for what they are. As a result, the bears have little fear of humans since they are the kings in this wilderness. We will be in the ultimate location for the amazing experience of photographing these marvelous animals as they dive into the rivers to catch plentiful sockeye salmon. You’ll capture images as close as 15 to 20 feet away!

We will stay in a lodge and enjoy home cooked meals in between shooting. Each day we’ll be flown into the Alaskan wilderness by float plane (we have the best and most experienced pilots with us) and guided to the best locations. A side trip to Brooks Falls is also on our itinerary.
